(LANSDOWNE, ONTARIO) The rooster is strutting his walk as everyone gets ready for some good old fashioned fun when the 149th Lansdowne Fair comes to town from July 19 – 21. This year’s theme is Poultry in Motion, so preen your feathers and get up off of the nest. It’s time to go out and enjoy everything there is to be offered. And be sure to check out the improvements to the fairgrounds while you are there.

A cheque has been presented to the Lansdowne Agricultural Society (LAS) in the amount of $4,522, which is being used specifically to paint both the men’s and women’s washrooms, decommission a well and build another sign board. The new sign board wil make more space available for interested parties to advertise.

“The Casino (Grants) Allocation Committee, with this generous funding, has recognized the need for continued upgrades to the buildings and grounds,” said Nancy Kehoe of LAS. “We just can’t say thank you enough.

“The Directors are delighted with the ongoing support of the Township. Together with our sponsors, local businesses, volunteers and the entire community, we are able to add a host of new events for all ages to the fair this year.”

The gates officially open on Friday afternoon at 3:00 pm, with a whole mess of new activities. Come down and enjoy the Toilet Bowl Races, Chainsaw Competition and Truck and Tractor pulls, along with all your favourite fair activities.

The Junior Fair Board is sure to keep you bucking along as they get out all the best in theme related fun, including the egg and spoon race, egg toss, chicken dance, pin the body part on the chicken and oodles more to get you up and crowing.
