(BROCKVILLE, ONTARIO) There’s a real treat in store for all of Brockville as “From Here to Infinity” Gallery presents its first monthly Poetry Evening. Billed as “In To ‘Texts’”, it features poetry and prose “from all media”, and will offer readings by Michael Casteels, Deborah Dunleavy, Paul Chaput and Nel Coloma-Moya. The featured artist for the evening is Bruce Kauffman.
Kauffman is a writer, editor and poet from Kingston. His first full collection of poetry, “The Texture of Days, In Leaf and Ash”, was published by Hidden Brook Press and released on February 23, 2013. He claims that his notions of becoming a poet gelled and became his life’s goal after seeing the movie “Doctor Zhivago”. From that point out, he wanted to be a professional, expressing all of his experiences, hopes and dreams in the language of the poet. Inspiration comes to him in many forms, and he uses his gift for words to paint his pictures and show us his true depth of feeling.
All four of the other poets are also from the local area. Each has a unique voice to contribute to the wonderment of the evening.
The event will be held on Wednesday, August 21, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the gallery, 213 King Street West in Brockville.
