(KINGSTON, ONGTARIO) Finally! After a long, self-imposed hiatus from recording, Kingston’s Kevin Head is releasing a new CD on September 8. Entitled “Kevin Head LIVE!”, this latest musical offering is just that-and more so.
On September 8 he will be releasing his new CD, recorded in Gananoque at the popular Stonewater Pub. The October night was cool, the house packed with fans as Head performed with exceptional musicians from the Kingston band Rubbaboo (Cam Schaefer- piano, Bob Arlidge – Bass, Jak Thrasher – percussion), and guest vocalist Vanessa Burnett. Head and Burnett perform together as “Head over Heels”, and she contributed her voice to the harmonies heard on several of the tracks.
“The results capture the intimacy and spontaneity of the performance – done live off-the floor in one take, and then mastered by Duncan Holt and Doug Reansbury at Concept Audio in Kingston,” says Head. “I believe that for the first time in my long career, I have a record that authentically represents what my music and stage presence are about.”
There are ten original songs on the CD.
“Two of the numbers are on previous recordings, but they really grooved and I knew I had to include them in the new CD,” says Head.
The CD will be showcased at a live release concert in Kingston at the Mansion, 506 Princess Street, on Sunday, September 8. The show will run from 3:00 – 6:00 pm, and will feature Rubbaboo as both the opening act and then, later, as Head’s back-up band.
“Admission is FREE, CD’s will be available for sale at a very special price, and there are lots of fun surprises in the works,” says Head.
