(GANANOQUE, ON) – Building on the success of last year’s event, the Thousand Islands Playhouse in Gananoque has decided to once again host “Local Flavours, Local Friends” on September 21 at 4:30 p.m.
“It’s a great chance to get out and show what we have to offer,” said Kerry Coyle of the Purple House at the tasting last year. “There are a lot of wonderful opportunities here just waiting to be explored.”
The fundraiser consists of a buffet style setting where guests have the opportunity to indulge in delicacies created by local chefs using local produce while sampling wines made in this area.
“Visitors to Local Flavours, Local Friends can sample a variety of food from more than forty local producers and restaurateurs, such as The Gananoque Inn, the Purple Café, Atomica, Pan Chancho, Roots Down Organics, The Gananoque Brewing Company, Sandbanks Winery and more,” said Debbie Bennett, Marketing Manager for the Playhouse. “Desserts such as those from 1000 Islands Chocolate Company and Tait’s Bakery add to the delights.”
The evening starts at 4:30 when the door opens and bidding begins for the silent auction. At 6:15, the live auction commences and runs until 7:00. Throughout this time guests are encouraged to partake of the amazing foods and beverages available.
“This year’s live auction packages are amazing,” said Bennett. “They include a gourmet dinner and B&B stay for eight, a Family Christmas Party at the Westgate House B&B, a private function with top-of-the-world views at the Skydeck, a night at the opera in Toronto, a VIP Sens ticket package, a day of Kayaking, followed by B&B relaxation, and more. Silent auction items include gift baskets, home décor items, sports tickets, handmade jewellery and gift certificates for dinners, hotel stays, day trips, spa visits, sports, entertainment and as well as other things.”
“Local Flavours, Local Friends” can be enjoyed as a stand alone event, or paired with tickets to see a matinee or evening performance of “No Great Mischief”, a sweeping saga of family love, playing at the Playhouse Springer Theatre from September 14 until October 5.
Tickets may be purchased from the Box Office, open from 11am daily. “Local Flavours” tickets by themselves are only $55 each, while tickets for “Local Flavours” plus either the 2:30 or 8:00 p.m. performance of “No Great Mischief” are $85.
