There’s still time to get Gananoque native Jon Abrams and his song, “For the Love of the Game”, into the top ten, but we have to hurry.
“He’s made it into the top 50,” said Nancy Abrams, Jon’s mother. “It would be so wonderful if he could go all the way.”
Voting is in the last crucial days before the announcement of the winner of January 1, 2014, in Detroit at the NHL Winter Classic. All votes need to be in by December 19, and you can vote once a day (giving us each 3 more votes before closing).
The song has been doing very well outside the competition. He’s had 1,687 plays recorded at the CBC Music site as of this writing, and another 5,567 on youtube. He was even picked up by a young people’s sledge hockey team out west who are hoping to bring him out to sing his number – which they have adopted as their theme song – at one of their games.
“And to think he’s a small town boy from Gananoque,” said Nancy. “It’s just amazing.”
Voting is easy. Go to http://music.cbc.ca/#/artists/Jon-Abrams and follow instructions.
“Just click on the link, scroll down a bit and you’ll see a blue button that says ‘VOTE FOR THIS ARTIST’,” says Jon.
Although he set his mind on making the first cut, friends and family throughout the region would like to see him take his song all the way to the top.

Thanks for your support, Lorraine. It’s a tight race with competitors including professional musicians who have labels and a fan base, so we’re voting daily on all available and sharing his link. He’s having fun with this and was gratified by the sledge hockey team in Alberta picking up on his song. Helping kids with disabilities particpate in sports and receive recognition and adulation is a “win-win”. Nancy
Hi Lorraine,
“For the Love of the Game” made the TOP10 so the game is still on. Voting in period 3 ends December 30. Thanks for your support.
