Most people are familiar with the Christmas basket. Every year in December, different businesses and charitable organizations get together and collect food, small gifts, and other items to give to the “poor” in society. Usually this means those who are not well off financially, those for whom such feasts might seem impossible otherwise.

Many of these baskets are viewed by the recipients as a boost through the holidays, some are seen as an embarrassing necessity, but occasionally, they are truly miracles. – to read more>

December 22, 2013 – Sunday – Home (near Gananoque, Ontario, Canada):

Technically, this is the second day of “ice storm 2013”. Funny how people are affected differently in different areas, with no two seeming to have the same experience.

“Thousands without power…” “Traffic ground to a halt…” “All unnecessary road travel banned throughout the region…”

The news has stories of discomfort and disaster – tree limbs falling, people getting injured, but nothing like it was in 1998. We’ve learned some things since then, improved our technology, and for some, at least, things are better this time around. – to read more>

MPP Clark Welcomes Ashley Smith Inquest Recommendations

( BROCKVILLE ) – Leeds-Grenville MPP Steve Clark is welcoming today’s recommendations from the jury in the Ashley Smith Inquest, saying they highlight the need to provide specialized treatment for female offenders who suffer from mental illness.

“The jury has made some excellent recommendations that offer a road map forward for the correctional system to prevent another tragedy like Ashley Smith’s death,” said Clark . “I was encouraged that the jury’s vision clearly supports the secure female treatment facility that I, along with other partners in Leeds-Grenville, have been championing for several years.” – to read more>

PGA Tour Canada – December 12, 2013

Schedule expands from nine to 12 events, will run from May to September

(December 12, 2013 – Oakville, ON and Ponte Vedra Beach, FL) – PGA TOUR Canada’s second season will include 12 $150,000 events in 2014, with the race for Web.com Tour status for The Five going coast-to-coast from May to September.

The season will begin with the PC Financial Open, a new event May 26th to June 1st at Point Grey Golf and Country Club in Vancouver, British Columbia and conclude at the TOUR Championship of Canada presented by Freedom 55 Financial September 8th to 15th at Sunningdale Golf & Country Club in London, Ontario. -to read more>

Point Grey Golf and Country Club to host season-opening PGA TOUR Canada event

(December 11, 2013 – Vancouver, BC) – PGA TOUR Canada will be coming to Vancouver in 2014 with the PC Financial® Open, it was announced Thursday. The PC Financial Open will be the first event of the 2014 PGA TOUR Canada season, taking place May 26th to June 1st at Point Grey Golf and Country Club.
