Sweet’s Corners All Heart for Terry Fox

(SWEET’S CORNERS, ON) – Sweet’s Corners Elementary School has heart. Lots of heart. Not only are most of its students involved in getting themselves into better physical condition, but they all want to reach out to help others as well.

On September 26, the school held its annual Terry Fox Run which raised over $225 for the cause. Students learned a lot about Terry and his dream, and were excited to not only do this run, but to share that they had also participated in a cross country run at the Rideau High School with students from other schools in the Upper Canada District School Board. – to read more>

Leeds-Grenville MPP Says Only Threat Of Jail Door Slamming Can Uncover the Truth Behind $1.1 Billion Gas Plants Boondoggle

(QUEEN’S PARK) – It’s time to force the Liberal government to face the threat of jail time in order to finally get to the bottom of the billion-dollar gas plants scandal, says Leeds-Grenville MPP Steve Clark.

“The Auditor-General has confirmed PC MPPs like me were right when we said this scandal would cost taxpayers $1 billion. PGA TOUR Canada announces plans for 2014 Qualifying Tournament

PGA Tour Canada – Three Qualifying tournaments to take place in Spring 2014

(October 9, 2013 – Oakville, ON and Ponte Vedra Beach, FL) – PGA TOUR Canada Qualifying will take place in Canada and the US next spring, with three separate 72-hole tournaments set for Spring 2014.

Players will have an opportunity to qualify for the Tour at one of three sites, with fields of 132 players maximum teeing it up at sites in the Southeastern and Southwestern United States in April, and a Canadian site in May. The top 18 players at each site will earn exempt status for 2014, with players finishing 19th through 40th plus ties earning conditional status. – to read more>

(GANANOQUE, ON) – The 492 Military Police Army Cadets in Gananoque are in full swing after having held a very successful Recruitment Barbecue on September 11. Now that the excitement of joining up, the fun of seeing your friends join, too, is over, it’s time for the work to begin.

First Annual “Swing for Dreams” a Hole in One

(LYNDHURST, ON) – Saturday, September 21, was a day filled with torrential downpour and intermittent periods of drizzle. Most folks were staying inside grumbling about the conditions, but not the 12 teams of dedicated golfers who had come out to play at Lyndway Hills Golf Club in Lyndhurst. This was the first ever “Swing for Dreams” Golf Fundraiser for Dreams in Motion and they weren’t going to let a little wet weather slow them down.

“The Old English Pub and Re/Max Riverview Realty (both in Gananoque) sponsored this first ever ‘Swing for Dreams’ golf tournament at Lyndway,” said Glenda Olivier of Re/Max. “Lyndway Golf Club donated the course for the afternoon and the clubhouse for the evening in order for us to have the golf tournament here. Everything from the food to the prizes was donated. There were hole sponsors, etc., and we did a 50/50 draw as well.” – to read more>

(QUEEN’S PARK) – Leeds-Grenville MPP Steve Clark is welcoming his new role as Ontario PC Critic for Community Safety and Correctional Services.

Clark’s position in PC Leader Tim Hudak’s shadow cabinet was announced Monday at Queen’s Park. The MPP, who was Critic for Municipal Affairs and Housing since 2011, will also retain his role as Deputy House Leader for the Official Opposition. – to read more>

(GANANOQUE, ON) – When we sit down to eat, how many of us truly think about where our food came from? For the most part, we simply consume and assume we have the right to do so without thinking. We may or may not enjoy the meal, we may or may not even notice it as it goes by. Yet every bite has a source, and that source is the farmer.

On September 26, the Farmers’ Market in the Gananoque Town Park tried something a little different. Not only did they conduct business as usual, but they showed their appreciation to those who have shopped with them all season by providing a nourishing meal made from produce from their own farms, kitchens and bakeries. Called a “Harvest Celebration”, it featured a meal of homemade chillies (with or without meat), an array of breads, warm cider and a delicious carrot cake for dessert. Live musical entertainment was provided by Flashback and Mike Bishop. – to read more>

PGA TOUR Canada announces the Forces and Families Open

PGA Tour Canada – Hylands Golf Club in Ottawa to host PGA TOUR Canada event in 2014

(September 26, 2013 – Ottawa, ON) – PGA TOUR Canada announced Thursday that it will be coming to the National Capital Region in 2014 with the Forces and Families Open in Ottawa.

The Forces and Families Open, which will support the Military Families Fund, will take place August 4-10, 2014 at Hylands Golf Club in Ottawa, Ontario. Forces and Families, a volunteer organization founded in 2007 that supports the men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces and their families, will serve as the host organization for the tournament. – to read more>
